Thanksgiving Day Parade is a televised annual holiday tradition which is held each year on Thanksgiving morning in Chicago, Illinois. The origins of the parade date back to 1934 in the midst of the Great Depression when the holiday parade was originally introduced as a way to boost the economy and public spirit. The parade has since grown into the tradition it has become today. The parade includes: marching bands, gigantic helium balloons, decorative floats, entertainers and much more. The parade route runs on State Street from Congress Parkway to Randolph Street and is free to all ages.
